Alan Bowles
When he was six years old Alan
was taken to the local Pantomime; Sinbad the Sailor at St Georges
Theatre, Luton. Apparently he turned to his mum and said “I want to be up
there!” A year later, his mum pointed out the auditions for the up coming
pantomime in the local newspaper. Alan made his professional debut that year as
Really Nasty Thief Number 6 in Ali Baba and the Fourteen Thieves!
This led to many lead roles in
school plays and local drama groups, including at age 12 playing The Crippled
Boy in Rats The Musical – which according to his parents is still his
finest performance!
Some years later, Alan was
awarded a full 3 year DaDa scholarship and trained at The Guildford School of
Acting, graduating in 2003 with a BA (Hons) degree in Theatre (Musical Theatre
pathway). Theatre whilst training includes; John in Love Off The Shelf,
Edsel Mackey in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and a he created
the role of Snazzer in the new musical Up The Greek at the Electric
Theatre.
Since graduating Alan has created
roles in 3 new musicals, Raymo in The East End of Chicago (Stratford
Circus); Joe Anderson in the Chart Tribute Show (UK Tour 05 and 06) and
Harry in Happy Families/Tangled Lives (The Cut, Halesworth). Last year
Alan created the role of Michael in a new version of the play A Purple Wish
for XO Theatre Company which was performed at the Famagusta Gate Theatre,
Cyprus.
Other theatre credits include a
few performances as ensemble in The Magnificent Musicals tour starring
Ruthie Henshall. TV and Film credits include; Various Characters in the several
episodes of the children’s TV drama, Morris 2274 - series 1 (Two Hats
Film and TV); Luke in the film workshop of The March of Tears (TAPS),
and Joe (Lead) in the short film 24 Little Hours (Red Badger
Productions).
He has appeared as the lead
vocalist for Mirage Entertainment onboard MV Braemar and MV Boudicca for Fred
Olsen Cruise Lines, spending over a year sailing the Mediterranean, the Artic
and the Caribbean Seas! What a hard life!!! While aboard, he also began
performing his own Cabaret, singing his favourite Big Band Swing music.
Alan has appeared in seven
pantomimes, often for the Hiss and Boo Company. Recent credits include the
title role in Aladdin (Queen’s Theatre, Barnstaple); Prince Charming in Cinderella
(Riverfront Theatre, Newport) and last year he played his first villain,
‘Avignon’ in Beauty and The Beast (West Wing Arts Centre, Slough).
Alan would like to thank his
family for their love and support, and he hopes everyone enjoys the show.
