Kerry O'Dowd
Kerry
O’Dowd was born in Greenwich, Kent. From an early age she was singing and
dancing with her friends and choreographing routines whether in school or at
home.
At
the age of 8 she went to dance classes at the ‘Liz Burville’s dance centre’.
She started in the chorus in
‘Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat’
and finished as Bugsy in ‘Bugsy Malone’ at 11.
She
was accepted for a scholarship at ‘The Sylvia Young Theatre School’ to study
full time and realized that her main passion was singing. She sang for ‘Save
the Children’, where she performed at Buckingham Palace for Princess Margaret.
Other Charity Galas also took her to The Royal Albert Hall, The Palace Theatre
(where her favorite musical in the world was being performed at the time),
Grosvenor house, where she returned to as an adult as a soloist.
After
school Kerry trained at the ‘Miskin Theatre’ and studied acting and physical
theatre and although having an amazing experience and learning so much, she
missed singing and musical theatre. She Toured with Panto’s (oh no she didn’t!)
and sang for commercials.
More
recently she toured the world as a leading lady for Holland America Cruise
Liners,
but is glad to be back on solid ground.
From
voice over’s, to session singing for recording studios to function bands and
tribute acts as long as she’s singing she’s happy, so thank you to Mad About
Productions for keeping her passion alive.
